Asphalt Technician / Lab Manager
Required Qualifications
- North Carolina: Level II Asphalt Mix Design Certification.
- South Carolina: Level III Asphalt Mix Design Certification.
- Experience with asphalt mix designs, quality control, and laboratory testing.
- Knowledge of state DOT specifications and asphalt production requirements.
- Ability to perform, review, and document laboratory and field testing.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage laboratory operations and maintain accurate quality control records.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with plant personnel, management, and quality control staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain asphalt mix designs.
- Manage daily laboratory operations and quality control procedures.
- Perform and oversee asphalt testing to verify materials meet specifications.
- Monitor aggregate gradations, asphalt binder content, and mix properties.
- Maintain accurate test results, reports, certifications, and quality control documentation.
- Work directly with asphalt plant personnel to maintain consistent product quality.
- Identify out-of-specification materials and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state DOT and project requirements.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
