Surveyor-in-Training – Civil Construction Projects

Responsibilities:
- Perform field layout for grading, storm drainage, utilities, and structures
- Operate Trimble R12i GPS rover and associated equipment with high accuracy
- Assist with topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys
- Calculate storm drainage pipe sizes, slopes, and capacities
- Read and interpret construction plans and civil engineering drawings
- Maintain field data records, QA/QC checks, and daily reports
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field crews
- Ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards
Qualifications:
- Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification required
- 1–3 years of field experience on civil or infrastructure construction projects
- Proficient with Trimble equipment and Trimble Access software
- Ability to perform basic storm drainage calculations (Manning’s equation, slope, flow rates)
- Familiar with site layout plans, CAD files, and control networks
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently or in teams
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred:
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or Trimble Business Center
- Construction staking
- machine control experience
- Familiarity with DOT, municipal, or large-scale development standards
